Impressions & Clicks
The Bannerize analytics dashboard provides detailed views of impression and click data, including trend charts, top performers, and per-banner breakdowns.
Trend Charts
Navigate to Bannerize > Analytics to view the trend charts. These interactive charts visualize your banner performance over time.
Time Granularity
You can view trends at four different time scales:
| Granularity | Description |
|---|---|
| Hourly | Shows data points for each hour of the selected day. Useful for identifying peak traffic times |
| Daily | Shows data points for each day in the selected range. Best for week-over-week analysis |
| Weekly | Aggregates data by week. Good for identifying longer-term trends |
| Monthly | Aggregates data by month. Ideal for high-level campaign performance reviews |
Chart Data
Each trend chart displays three data series:
- Impressions — Total number of times banners were displayed
- Clicks — Total number of times banners were clicked
- CTR — Click-through rate as a percentage
You can toggle individual data series on or off by clicking their labels in the chart legend.
Top 5 Performers
The analytics dashboard includes Top 5 rankings for both banners and campaigns:
Top 5 Banners
| Metric | Description |
|---|---|
| By Impressions | The 5 banners with the most impressions in the selected period |
| By Clicks | The 5 banners with the most clicks in the selected period |
| By CTR | The 5 banners with the highest click-through rate |
Top 5 Campaigns
| Metric | Description |
|---|---|
| By Impressions | The 5 campaigns with the most combined banner impressions |
| By Clicks | The 5 campaigns with the most combined banner clicks |
| By CTR | The 5 campaigns with the highest overall click-through rate |
Campaign metrics are aggregated from all banners within that campaign. If a banner belongs to multiple campaigns, its impressions and clicks count toward each campaign.
Per-Banner Analytics
Click on any banner in the analytics table to see its individual performance data:
- Total Impressions — Lifetime count of times the banner was displayed
- Total Clicks — Lifetime count of times the banner was clicked
- CTR — Overall click-through rate
- Trend Chart — Impressions and clicks over time for this specific banner
- Recent Events — The most recent impression and click events with timestamps, referrer URLs, IPs, and user agents
CTR Calculation
Click-Through Rate is calculated as:
CTR = (Total Clicks / Total Impressions) x 100| Impressions | Clicks | CTR |
|---|---|---|
| 10,000 | 150 | 1.50% |
| 5,000 | 250 | 5.00% |
| 1,000 | 10 | 1.00% |
| 500 | 0 | 0.00% |
Industry-standard display ad CTR ranges from 0.05% to 0.10%. A CTR above 1% is generally considered excellent for display advertising. Bannerize CTR may be higher than industry averages because your banners are typically more relevant to your audience than generic third-party ads.
Filtering Analytics Data
The analytics tables support several filtering options:
By Date Range
Select a start and end date to narrow the data to a specific time period. This is useful for:
- Measuring campaign performance during a promotion
- Comparing week-over-week or month-over-month results
- Isolating data for reporting periods
By Campaign
Filter the analytics view to show only banners from a specific campaign. This lets you evaluate campaign-level performance without noise from other banners.
By Banner
Select a specific banner to drill down into its individual performance metrics.
Understanding the Data
High Impressions, Low Clicks
If a banner has many impressions but very few clicks, consider:
- The banner creative may not be compelling enough
- The placement may not be optimal (e.g., below the fold)
- The target audience may not be interested in the offer
- Try A/B testing with a different banner design
High CTR, Low Impressions
If a banner has a high CTR but low impressions:
- The banner is performing well with its audience
- Consider increasing its exposure (more placements, higher priority)
- The small sample size may make the CTR statistically unreliable
Sudden Drops in Performance
If you notice a sudden drop in impressions or clicks:
- Check if the banner has reached its Max Impressions or Max Clicks limit
- Verify the banner has not expired (Date Expiry)
- Ensure the banner is still published and assigned to active campaigns
- Check if global tracking settings have been changed
If you disable and then re-enable tracking, there will be a gap in your analytics data for the period when tracking was off. This gap cannot be retroactively filled.
